PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Marktplaats is leading classifieds site in Netherlands. Now it is part of eBay Classified group. Site has several categories/vertical business: Cars, Service etc. Currently site is being migrated from PHP to Java (this is done by team from Amsterdam). But there are some platforms already written in Java.
Recently Marktplaats started new initiative called “Klussen” (“jobs” in Dutch). This is standalone site, which is tightly integrated with main one (user are shared, Single Sign On between both platforms etc). Business idea – everyone (consumer) can place notice about some job to be done for free on the site. Service providers can contact such consumers (this is paid option).
Initially team will be responsible for work on new features for project Klussen. Later team will participate on migrating Services verticals from PHP to Java (with close communication with Amsterdam teams).
